Luna at Heathrow

Someone at the Cafe Nero at Heathrow Airport yesterday afternoon had decided to play something I knew. I think it's called "Luna," I've danced to it many times, but I couldn't remember for sure.

Do the staff get to decide for themselves what music they play?

And that's all I'm going to type on this damn German hotel keyboard ...

Perhaps you're thinking of Otra Luna by Carlos Libedinsky? It is a very nice track to dance to.

I've noticed quite a few neo-tango tunes make it into the play list for coffee shops and and bars these days. I guess that they find their way onto the compilation CD's that they are given to play.

I thought it was "Luna" by Alex Kid, which I've just played to check. But I'm not sure - it stuck in my head for half the flight, then disappeared from memory completely, and the one I've just played seems to have a bit too much of a clubbers' beat. I can't think what Otra Luna sounds like, so you could equally well be right.

Do you think there's someone whose job it is to make the compilations? The worldwide DJ of Caffé Nero? I'm sure Starbucks have one.

Yes, there is a Luna by Alex Kidd, I had forgotten about that tune. I don't hear it so often as it doesn't get played much where I usually dance.

Yes, I think it's quite big business providing music selections to businesses to encourage their customers to drink more coffee, make impulse purchases, spend less time browsing and more time parting with their money...
