Dialogue

INTERIOR - 33 PORTLAND PLACE, THE WHITE ROOM. ADRIAN COSTA IS DJING. RULES FOR SALON TANGO ARE POSTED ON THE DOOR. LINE OF DANCE AND EVERYONE'S SPACE ARE BEING RESPECTED. TANGOBUNNY WILL REACH END OF EVENING WITHOUT A SINGLE SHOE MARK ON THE BACK OF HIS TROUSERS. ALL VERY CIVILISED.

FUZZY ENTERS FROM HALL AND APPROACHES HEDGEHOG

FUZZY

A man just came in the front door wearing a dressing gown — flipflops — and a top hat. And nothing else — I mean, obviously I don't know, but — not that you could see.

HEDGEHOG

Perhaps he lives here. You know the shut doors upstairs, there are more rooms, and there are people who live here. They rent the rooms.

FUZZY

Ohhh. That would explain ... I was thinking — ok, dressing gown, top hat — flipflops?

HEDGEHOG

He probably lives here.

FUZZY

That'd make more sense. Would you like to dance?

I was eating in a restaurant on Cockburn St in Edinburgh (it's the slope down from the Royal mile to Waverley bridge) when two people whizzed past in a grey overstuffed armchair.

@Limerick - I am absolutely certain you Didn't Panic. And nor did they?

I do remember an elderly guy in a motorised wheelchair who plowed straight through a Ceroc dancefloor (busk) and actually swung a stick at some of the dancers who didn't get out of his way fast enough for his liking. Weirdest piece of evasive floorcraft I've ever done....

@ Ms H,
Don't they have a jacuzzi in the place? It could explain the flip flops. ;)

Ms H, Your interpretation is touchingly charitable.

I'm sure they paniced when they got to the junction at the bottom but we just looked at each other to make sure we weren't seeing things.

I dance in my flipflops from time to time, but never in dressing gown and a hat. :-)

But it is an idea for the Halloween costume milongas that are coming up at Tango De Los Muertos.

such a visual story!

Well, if he danced, it wasn't in the Salon room, or not until after I left. It would have had to be in the ballroom upstairs.

I thought Portland Place was used for parties where that sort of attire would probably be seen as quite harmless...;-)

IF he danced. It seems you haven't heard the same rumours I have about what the small (non-dance) rooms downstairs in that building are used for...

I don't give a damn what anybody does behind a shut door.

SL - Those aren't rumours. They're FACT.

@ Game Cat
How do you know?
