I was on holiday this week and got to do fun things like go to the butterfly house that's at the front of the Natural History Museum. It's hot in there.
This is a Lime Butterfly or Swallowtail, Papilio demoleus.
This one was too fast for me.
I didn't get its name but in my mind it's the Strobe Butterfly.

Your first butterfly is a Lime Butterfly. Swallowtails are noted for the little extra bit hanging at the bottom of their wings: http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=swallowtail+butterfly&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=g2-JSsrbKtDMjAfx5NWiCw&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1
They are quite common in the States. I have never seen a Lime butterfly before. Very pretty.
Both could be true. "Lime butterfly/swallowtail, common lime or lemon butterfly" is what they said in the description, "Sri Lanka, India to Australia". So I suppose what they mean is that it is called Lime or Lemon in some of those places and Swallowtail in others, whereas in the USA the Swallowtail is a different butterfly.
