Mosaic jersey - progress

There hasn't been a lot of knitting on the blog lately because I've been working on just one very time-consuming thing, the mosiac jersey, adapted from a vintage pattern. But I made very good progress on the train on my holidays, and even though I haven't been as busy as I should have since, I've now finished the back and front, sewn them together and re-done the ribbing at the bottom (downwards and circularly). Next I have to do the ribbing at the neck, and then set in the sleeves. They're not made yet - I've started one.

Oops - a trailing end is in the picture. Considering that my gauge does not in fact correspond to the pattern, whereas my measurements pretty much do, it's a surprisingly good fit. The original must have been really tight. It does look tight in the pattern picture. The seams need pressing. I'm very pleased with it so far; it's a lot of work, but I think it'll look wonderful in wear.

Gorgeous! Seeing the beautiful things that you and others knit makes me want to get back into it! I can't wait to see the finished product. :)

I think your hard work is paying off, it looks great !!!
I would not knit any sleaves, will leave it as a waiscoat, find them more practical and wearable.

Looks great H. You obviously have a lot of patience.

@maya, I did seriously consider leaving off the sleeves. When it's finished it's going to be very warm (the sleeves are full length). But I have this ambition to complete the pattern as written; and my intention is to wear it with a very thin long-sleeved silk vest. And I tend to wear knitwear instead of blouses anyway. The pattern as written - originally done in fairisle in a different all-over pattern - is such a beautiful piece. And I won't need a jacket, and the ninja aircon at my office won't be a problem.

I read an article about vintage knitwear recently in either the Knitter or Yarn Forward, which stated that vintage patterns are often much tighter (giving negative ease) than the modernday look. The jumper looks delightful - I hope it all works out because I want to see you wearing it!

@Jo, that makes sense, and there is definitely negative ease in the sleeves. I think it'll be OK though - definitely wearable with the right things.
