I've seen Octavian at Jive Nation at least once and I know he's not the only one.

I don't think the hosts Antonio and Anna dances MJ but they are very nice and I'm sure they're open to suggestions for music.yunkihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02202483128223722651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8391293127288856260.post-91016316839048011022009-05-27T14:45:16.431+01:002009-05-27T14:45:16.431+01:00Thanks

I don't have anything more to say about the music but they say on Tango-UK that they're open to suggestions, so I think you should both check it out and see what you thought. If you were bringing a group it would even make sense to email them and see if the £7 price would apply. The ventilation is a problem in summer, and was indeed the reason for Carablanca moving. It does get hot and stuffy in there. I never really minded it much, but some people find it really hard.msHedgehoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05719152265628932122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8391293127288856260.post-33816498872497711182009-05-27T13:58:59.054+01:002009-05-27T13:58:59.054+01:00Well it is still 3 hours dancing which would be th...Well it is still 3 hours dancing which would be the equivalent of 10pm to 1am at Negracha.

(Course if I turn up at 11 I may have problems...)

Ultimately the question is of that 3 hours how much time do you spend dancing? As opposed to sitting out because you don't like the music / no-one to dance with, moving defensively on the dancefloor, trying to stop the other person from injuring all and sundry etc.

I really don't want to become one of those guys who considers one tanda an hour an evening well spent! Harder on the wallet of course, but might be worth a try.

Not sure about the OKTango lot being jivers - Amir used to teach for them I believe, but I don't think he does anymore?

I've been meaning to check it out since the lovely Heather talked about it a few weeks ago. OK Tango is behind this and most of the people organising this milonga are students or ex-students. The ventilation will be an issue as they are not allowed to open windows because of the neighbours (and the fans were not enough)and the venue always closed at 11pm in the past. These issues prompted the move for Carablanca.
As for jive, The Casbah closes at 11pm (I used to go regularly after work as it was around the corner from me and then I used to pop over to Negracha after that!)Would think that if people were getting hot from Tango, that they would melt from dancing anything faster.
I am always suspicious of Taxi dancers, maybe good for the beginners.
Glad you enjoyed yourself.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8391293127288856260.post-84964193074755722772009-05-26T22:37:41.727+01:002009-05-26T22:37:41.727+01:00I have very little experience of Jive so you two a...I have very little experience of Jive so you two are more likely to be right on this than I am.msHedgehoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05719152265628932122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8391293127288856260.post-42406224705929176642009-05-26T22:21:29.475+01:002009-05-26T22:21:29.475+01:00Jivers are probably used to early Friday nights si...Jivers are probably used to early Friday nights since their only option in the past was South Ken/Casbah which closed at 10:45ish?

Also, a number of teachers/hosts in OKTango are jivers too! Most people would only get half an hour's dancing and the ones who come far probably just wouldn't. It would be more of a prequel really.
